T he Miles family began involvement in funeral service in Cowley County, Kansas during the mid-1940's. Following his return from W.W. II service, Hayward and his wife Doris Miles began operation of Miles Mortuary in Burden, Kansas, and later at Cedar Vale, Kansas. These firms continued operation for 50 years.
During the late 1970's, their son, David Miles, began operation of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas, and has continued the family professional tradition to the present.
